Manual vs Automatic Payment Comparison
Both Manual and Automatic Payments enable all Pro Features for sessions that have signups and a fee.
Automatic Payments
What are the pros and cons of Automatic Payments? When should I use Automatic Payments? Why use Stripe? What are the benefits of requiring payment at signup? Are the fees higher with Automatic Payments?
Benefits:
- Fully automated, payment is required to sign up, so you never chase anyone for money
- Automatic refund processing for eligible cancellations
- Accepts credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and more
- Secure processing through Stripe
Considerations:
- Slightly higher fees, 2.9% + $0.30 (Stripe) plus 5% (DailyPB)
- Requires a Stripe account
Manual Payments
What are the pros and cons of Manual Payments? When should I use Manual Payments? What are the benefits of collecting payment myself? Why choose Venmo or Zelle over Stripe?
Benefits:
- Instant access to your funds through popular methods (Venmo, CashApp, Zelle, PayPal)
- Lower fee, only 5% of the Event Fee per signup (minimum $1)
- No Stripe account required
- More payment flexibility for players
- Payment goes directly to your preferred platform
Considerations:
- You may need to follow up with players for payment
- No automatic refund processing
Cost comparison example
How much do players pay with each payment mode? What's the cost difference between Manual and Automatic Payments? How much does a $20 session cost the player? How much does the host receive? What are the total fees for each mode?
For a $20.00 Event Fee:
| Payment Type | Player Total Cost | Total Fees | Host Receives |
|---|---|---|---|
| Automatic Payment | $21.94 | $1.94 | $20.00 |
| Manual Payment | $21.00 | $1.00 | $20.00 |
In both cases, you receive the full Event Fee. The fees are added on top and paid by the player.
With Manual Payments, you collect the full amount from the player, and DailyPB charges its fee to your card at the end of the month. With Automatic Payments, the fees are taken out automatically at the time of payment.
