Privacy Settings
How do I make my session private? How do I control who can see my session? How do I hide a session from the public schedule? What's the difference between Public, Group, and Private? How do I make a session visible only to my group? How do I share a private session with a direct link? How do I set up a draft session?
You control who can see a session with its privacy setting. There are three levels.
The three privacy levels
What are the privacy options? What's the difference between Public, Group, and Private sessions? Who can see a public vs private session? What does Group privacy do? How does Private session visibility work? Can someone see a private session with a link?
- Public — anyone can view the session.
- Private — only people with the direct link can view the session.
- Group — only members of a linked group can view the session.
Here's exactly where a session shows up at each level:
| Public Schedule | Group Page | Direct URL | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Public | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Private | No | No | Yes |
| Group | No | Group members only | Yes |
A Private session never appears on the public schedule, a group page, or a venue page — but anyone with the direct link can still view it.
How to change the privacy setting
How do I change my session's privacy? Where is the privacy setting? How do I set who can see my session? How do I make my session public or private? Where is "Who can see it?" in the editor?
1 Open the session editor
Open the session, scroll down to Tools, and click Edit Session.
2 Choose the scope (recurring sessions only)
If this is a recurring session, an Apply changes to dropdown appears — select This session ONLY or This and ALL following sessions, depending on whether you're changing one session or the whole series.
For a non-recurring (single) session, this dropdown doesn't appear at all — just go straight to the next step.
3 Open Audience & Display
Open the Audience & Display section and find Who can see it?
The privacy setting is "Who can see it?" in the Audience & Display section.
4 Pick a level and save
Choose Public, Private, or Group, then click Save Changes. If you choose Group, link the group you want under Add Groups to this event — without a linked group, a Group session has nowhere to appear except its direct link.
Want to set a session up before announcing it? Set it to Private and don't link a group. Only the event hosts will see it (don't share the direct link yet) until you make it Public.
If a session isn't appearing where you expect, privacy is the most common reason — but players also only see sessions whose venue falls inside their location and search radius. See Why isn't my session showing up?
